Congratulations to the 2010 NISOD Award Winners!

The Faculty Senate is proud to announce that the following individuals have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to the MCC Community with the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Award.  They have consistently and passionately gone beyond their job requirements to make our College a better place in which to learn and to work.

We are fortunate to have so many gifted and caring individuals at MCC.  The brief descriptions below represent only a small part of the work done by these faculty members.

We would also like to recognize the other nominees, each of whom serves MCC with distinction.  Finally, than you to the nominators who worked so hard to put together outstanding packages to honor their colleagues.

Ms. Augustine has served as Program Director for Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) since 2006.    She has also taken on the added responsibility of being the Interim Coordinator of the Center for Service Learning.  She has excellent leadership skills.

Donnas’ enthusiasm for her work, students and the programs she oversees are clearly evident and contagious.  She inspires her students to achieve and learn in all avenues.  Under her guidance the graduating seniors in STEP have earned 100% college acceptance.  Donna has created a collaborative relationship with the department’s Upward Bound Program.  This effort and other innovations have lead to the expansion of programming, services, staffing, efficiencies in cost and resulted in a highly engaged student population.  Donna has inspired her students to participate in the LEGO Robotic League, compete in the Department of Energy’s National Science Bowl.  She has also applied for and received a Youth as Resources “Project Vision” grant.

Jason can be assigned to any class to teach and the result is always an excellent appraisal from both his colleagues and students.  His inspiration results in work that is visually exceptional, highly crafted and professional.  Jason works with his students helping them to develop and grow as individuals and leaders.

In addition to his teaching schedule Jason willingly volunteers for Mercer Gallery events installing exhibitions.  He attends all gallery talks and encourages his students to attend which contributes to the success of these events.  Jason takes on new challenges and embraces them with enthusiasm.
