News from the MCC Board of Trustees


The MCC Board of Trustees held its meeting in the Board Room on the Brighton Campus on Monday, August 1, and took the following actions:

1. Approved the Consent Calendar, containing past meeting minutes, operating disbursements, personnel appointments, compensation, promotions, and separations from service.

2. Accepted the interim financial report as of May 31, 2011.

3. Authorized the purchase of items over $20,000 for the month of May 2011.

4. Recognized the dedicated service of the following individuals with the distinction of of emeritus status:
Carol Adams, Transitional Studies
Bonnie Connell, Mathematics
Richard Connett, Biology
M. Thomas Cooper, Visual and Performing Arts
Donna Cox, English/Philosophy
Sharon Dobkin, Psychology
Joseph Kotaska, Business Administration/Economics
Donna Petrie, Mathematics
James Petrosino, Business Administration/Economics
Kevin Foley, Engineering Technologies
Kathy Lawton, Biology
Anne Ranczuch, Business Administration/Economics

5. Approved the appointment of Catherine E. Smith as interim dean of the Interdisciplinary Programs Division effective June 1, 2011.

6. Approved the appointment of David Moore as Director of Public Safety effective August 8, 2011.

7. Approved Fall 2011 leaves for professional advancement for Antony Leuzzi, English/Philosophy and Julie White, Student Services--DCC.

8. Approved the retirement of M. Thomas Cooper, Visual and Performing Arts, effective August 25, 2011 and Donna Petrie, Mathematics, effective July 1, 2011.

9. Approved the promotions of adjunct faculty

10. Approved the promotions of professional staff. (Please see related Tribune article.)

11. Approved salaries of non-contract administrators and vice presidents.

12. Set the Board of Trustees meeting calendar for 2012.

13. Honored the MCC golf team as NJCAA Division III national champions.

14. Elected Kenneth Goode, chair, John Bartolotta, vice chair and Carol Cascarano, acting secretary of the board of trustees.

15. Conducted an executive session pursuant to Public Officers Law Section 105, subsection d, f and h.
