Online Teaching Discussion Group: Strategies for Connecting with your Online Students

How do we bridge the virtual divide between ourselves and our online students?

Come join us on Monday, Oct. 2nd from 12-12:50 pm to discover and discuss strategies to connect with your online students.

This group is for anyone interested in teaching online, as well as those who web-enhance their courses, teach a hybrid course, and those currently teaching online. The purpose of this group is to gather in person together as online faculty, learn about best practices, and support our work within the online world.

We are fortunate to have Professor Sherry Tshibangu (Business Administration) presenting on this topic and will discuss strategies, such as creating Screencastify videos and using features of Starfish. In addition, we often have time each session to discuss what is going on in our own classes.

Professor Tshibangu has web-enhanced her courses for over 10 years and has taught fully online classes for over 4 years. She is passionate about teaching in both learning environments. Professor Tshibangu teaches an array of Businesses courses including: Introduction to Business, Entrepreneurial Studies l, Entrepreneurial Studies ll and Supervising for the 21st Century. She has 25 years of experience in owning and operating several businesses. She brings this experience to the learning environment. Furthermore, she is the past recipient of the 2017 SUNY Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Stevens Initiative for the Middle East North Africa (MENA) and the 2016 Mexico-USA Multistate COIL Program (MCP).

We will meet in the Virtual Campus Center Training Room in the Flynn Campus Center on the Brighton Campus (room 3-122, enter through 3-150). We will also be offering this session through Zoom Conferencing for those at the other campuses or anyone who cannot make this meeting in person. The link to the event will be posted closer to the event. You can join and participate in real time.

Please RSVP below if you plan on attending or to receive the Zoom Conference Link.
