G. Christopher Belle-Isle Receives Inaugural Bonita C. Jacobs Transfer Champion Award

G. Christopher Belle-Isle, Interim Vice President for Student Services, receives Inaugural Bonita C. Jacobs Transfer Champion Award. The award is given to individuals who have shown an exceptional commitment to transfer student success as demonstrated by their involvement at the institution, state, regional, and national level.

Chris Belle-Isle began his work in transfer at Monroe Community College in 1977 and has continued to be an advocate for transfer students.  He has developed more than sixty articulation agreements with four-year institutions including twenty-eight comprehensive 2+2 dual admission programs.  Due to his dedication, MCC’s 2+2 program has become a model in New York State and made 2+2 a household term within our region.  Chris was among the first in New York State to recognize the needs of transfer students which led to many of the first articulation agreements, formal 2+2 dual admission programs and many of the programs and best practices that can now be found statewide today.

In 1993 Chris was instrumental in the founding of the New York State Transfer and Articulation Association and growing it to a platform for collaboration among colleges and universities to better serve the transfer student.  Chris was elected as the organization’s inaugural President and has remained active in this organization serving in a multitude of leadership roles throughout the years.

Please join me in congratulating Chris Belle-Isle as a recipient of the Inaugural Bonita C. Jacobs Transfer Champion Award.
