Holly Wheeler completed her Ph.D. in education at Capella University, with a specialization in leadership for higher education. Her dissertation is titled: "From Soldier to Student: A Case Study of Veterans’ Transitions to First-Time Community College Student." It was a qualitative study designed to address concerns regarding an increasing population: veterans returning from war who attend community college. Despite the influx of veteran students, only two other studies have focused on community colleges, neither of which addressed first-time students; Holly’s study can be used to develop new initiatives regarding this population and to drive additional research on the veteran population attending community colleges.
