Highlights (and More) of MCC's 2022 Commencement

If you missed MCC's 2022 Commencement or want to relive the College's biggest event of the year, a video recording of the ceremony is available now on MCC's YouTube.

You can also find images from Commencement in two galleries on MCC Facebook. In the coming days, additional images will be shared across the College's social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).

Student success stories recently shared via social media and in the Daily Tribune/Student Tribune will remain on the College’s website this summer, extending the celebration of the graduates and the faculty who educated and inspired them.

Thanks to Student Services/Marketing and Web and to Instructional Technologies for partnering with Community Relations to make MCC’s celebration of student success memorable.

1) MCC alumnus and keynote speaker Rafe "Reggie" Ellison ('97), who created a scholarship fund several years ago to benefit Rochester city school graduates who are returning students at MCC:

  • “Soon each of you will be in a position to contribute to the lives of others. And there'll be numerous ways to do so. I believe others will not only make your community better, but also help you. It could make you a better person. I truly hope to hear about what you do for your community for years to come.”
  • “I hope when the time is right – and resources permitted -- many of you will find your unique way to support and contribute to your communities. The more MCC alumni go above and beyond the contributions of our time, our learning and other resources, the better our communities and society as a whole are.”

2) Christal Knight, class of 2022 member and student speaker: “I’ve never been a stranger to hard work. Education is a necessity. I learned the importance of finishing what you start. For myself and for all of you graduates, we are here because we wanted more for ourselves.”
