Community Fridays for a Cause

The next “Community Fridays for a Cause” is Friday, March 4th.

This Friday, dress casually and wear school colors!  The National Kidney Foundation Serving Upstate NY will be the recipient of donations raised through the “Community Fridays for a Cause” program.

The National Kidney Foundation, Inc. (NKF) is a major voluntary health organization seeking to prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, improve the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases, and increase the availability of all organs for transplantation.

NKF Serving Upstate New York serves individuals in Chemung, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne and Yates counties.  NKF Serving Upstate New York supports kidney disease and transplant patients through research, patient support groups, public and professional educational programs, and a transportation reimbursement fund for low-income patients.

26 million Americans - 1 in 8 US adults - have Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and another 20 million more are at increased risk. CKD includes conditions that damage your kidneys and decrease their ability to keep you healthy. CKD may be caused by diabetes, high blood pressure and other disorders. More than 10,000 area residents are on dialysis and thousands wait for kidney transplants. Early detection can help prevent the progression of kidney disease to kidney failure which requires dialysis or a kidney transplant to maintain life.

This Friday, March 4th will be your opportunity to wear school colors and support of the important work of NFK Serving Upstate NY.  Let’s demonstrate MCC’s commitment to community by raising funds for this worthy cause.

Donations will be collected in each department.  All checks should be made out to the National Kidney Foundation.  Donation envelopes have been returned to the department to be used again on March 4th.  Please bring donation envelopes to Jodee Biller in the Controller’s Office no later than 4:00 PM on Friday, March 4th.

Thanks in advance for your support.
