Kristallnacht Program Engages Students, Community in Discussion on Propaganda

When keynote speaker Ann Mann Milliin, Ph.D. took the theatre stage on November 9, the began her presentation by saying she often speaks at universities and colleges, but her visit to MCC was unique. "I have never been as impressed with students -- and the the depth of their questions as I was today," Millin said. "Knowledge and life skills are fully integrated at MCC."

Millin, a historian at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., was the keynote speaker of MCC's 20th annual Kristallnacht program, hosted by the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project. Approximately 260 people attended the presentation, entitled "State of Deception: The Power of Nazi Propaganda."

Earlier that day, Millin joined HGHRP student leaders for lunch and spent two hours talking with them about her work and the museum's current propaganda exhibit. MCC students travel to the museum during the spring break each year to view exhibits and learn from museum experts.

Thank you to all who attended and acknowledged Kristallnacht, marking the start of the Holocaust in 1938, with us.
