WXXI News Promotes MCC Microcredentials

WXXI News interviewed Professor Andy Freeman (Curriculum and Program Development) about MCC's newest microcredentials launching in the fall 2022 semester.

Optical Fabrication Essentials and Construction Fundamentals 1 are now among eight such programs offered at MCC. A full list of MCC microcredentials can be found on MCC's website.

Professor Freeman said: "They have the potential in the future to help an adult student who maybe they don't have the time or the interest at this time to pursue an associate degree.”

“We're still working out how we track students who pursue a microcredential. It is not a credential that's recognized by the State Education Department as a formal program. It's a collection of a few courses, but it's stackable into a certificate or degree.”

The report, which aired in the morning news program on Tuesday (8/16/22), can be found on WXXI News' website.

The news release is available on MCC News website.
