MCC Students Honored

The following MCC students have received awards and honors for their achievements:

-- Malcolm Cohen, April Daniels, Allison Mancari, Colleen Raimond and Phuong “Kelly” Tran have received the 2010 Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence in recognition for their achievements and excellence.

The award recognizes students who have best demonstrated, and been recognized for, the integration of academic excellence with accomplishments in the areas of leadership, athletics, community service, creative and performing arts or career achievement. Each recipient receives a framed certificate and medallion, which is traditionally worn at commencement.

-- Four members of Phi Theta Kappa, an international community college honor society, have been named to the All-New York Academic Team. As one of 10 New York region first-team members, April Daniels will be eligible to receive full-tuition scholarships to attend a participating State University of New York institution for the next two years. Colleen Raimond and Oleg Vyshnyvetskyi were named to the second team, and Elizabeth Bitonti to the third.

--  April Daniels has been selected as a 2010 Coca-Cola Silver Scholar and will receive a $1,250 scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. Selection as a Coca-Cola Scholar was based on scores earned in the All-USA Academic Team competition.
