During spring break, from March 31 to April 2, CSTEP MCC traveled to the New York City area for a three day visit to four-year colleges. Program Coordinator John Curry and six MCC-CSTEP students visited the Long Island University Brooklyn campus, Fordham University in the Bronx and in Manhattan, and City College of New York in Harlem. The students met with the CSTEP Directors and staff at each of the colleges and were taken on walking tours of each campus. Specifically, the students visited science and engineering labs at each college. While in Manhattan, the group stopped at the New York Institute of Technology, walked through Times Square, and dined at a traditional Cuban restaurant.
The Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) at MCC works to increase the number of students from under-represented groups who are pursuing professional licensure and careers in mathematics, science, technology and health-related fields.
