MCC Daily Tribune

Greetings of Gratitude

One dedicated employee thanked the College & the CSEA Union, because: "With all the uncertainties others are facing in our community and across our nation, I have a renewed appreciation for my job, and where I work. I am grateful myself and my family will not face the financial and employment hardships with which so many others are now forced to deal. Thank you to the College and its leadership, and to our CSEA union and its leadership, for their tireless efforts not only through this crisis, but everyday throughout the year."

Hency Yuen-Eng, Government & Community Relations: "Thank you to Hency Yuen-Eng, Government and Community Relations, for consistently demonstrating excellence in media and community relations, especially in regards to MCC's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a key College communicator, Hency helps ensure media are aware of MCC's continued leadership in a variety of areas including student success and support, student mental health, workforce development, and academic and co-curricular program development. Her exceptional work empowers our community to see beyond the pandemic and reminds everyone of MCC's mission of access, excellence and innovation."

Jessica Barone, Department Chairperson Chemistry & Geosciences, because, "Though a shiny, new chairperson, Jessica Barone has lived the mission of this College during this crisis with her calm, organized leadership. She kept department members informed, but when possible, not overwhelmed, with changing working conditions. She ensured adjunct faculty members were kept aware of changing circumstances. Jessica listened to concerned faculty, fielded student requests, and managed fears of department staff. She did all of this while learning Blackboard and creating course material over the course of a week. She is a credit to this institution, and MCC is very lucky to have her!"

Michele Finn, from the Biology Department because, "Michele has provided great leadership and support to the faculty member she oversees for some Biology Department classes. Even though Michele has been learning with us, she never wavered in her support for her colleagues by offering whatever support she could. Thank you, Michele."
