Students Present at National Biology Conference

Students Derik Grant, Aaron Johnson and Christina Kennedy are representing Monroe Community College at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students in Anaheim, California, Nov. 8 -11. Grant, Johnson and Kennedy are presenting posters summarizing their summer research on vesiculate stomatitus virus, bioinformatics and nitrogen concentrations in Binghamton-area creeks respectively.

The students are participants in the Bridges to Baccalaureate Program, made possible by funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Grant and Johnson were among the first cohort to enter into the Rochester Biomedical Experience -- an NIH-funded initiative in partnership with Rochester Institute of Technology to encourage minority students to pursue careers in biomedical fields.
