Our 4th Annual Walk for Parkinson's Disease at MCC

Barth and I are both retirees from MCC.  Barth was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease seven years ago.  We are both doing remarkably well with the support of our family and friends and with a wonderful  PD support group.  Approximately 60,000 Americans are diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease each year, and this number does not reflect the thousands of cases that go undetected.  An estimated 7 to 10 million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease.

The event is Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. @ MCC Parking Lot G (behind Bldg. 10)
·         Sign in at 8:30 a.m.
·         Activities begin at 9:00 a.m.
·         Walk begins at 10:00 a.m. (approx. 1 mile)

The National Parkinson Foundation’s Moving Day is a fundraising event designed to create greater awareness – not just movement, but of Parkinson’s disease itself, a movement disorder.

This event will be held at MCC and will consist of a walk around the campus buildings, health exhibits, a Moving Day Pavilion with Yoga, mini exercise, Tai Chi, and more.  Bring the kids as we have fun things for them too – bounce house, face painting, and more!

Please join our team “Grampa’s Gang” to help raise funds that will support the NPF’s three-fold mission: to provide much needed services to individuals with PD, educate the community, and research to find a cure.

You can support this effort in the following ways:

1.      Join our team, “Grampa’s Gang.” (We would love to see you!)  We encourage you to register via the website: <"
https://www.movingdayrochester.org">

2.      Ask a friend to walk with you or sponsor you with a donation.

3.      If you are unable to walk and would like to donate you can do so via the website: <"
https://www.movingdayrochester.org"www.movingdayrochester.org>

4.      Maybe a loved one or someone you know has PD.  You could form your own team and join us as we walk.

Donations can be made in cash or by check made out to National Parkinson Foundation Greater Rochester and please list “Grampa’s Gang” in the memo field.  Debbie Ake, Room 11-261, will accept donations on our behalf.

Barth and I would like to thank you in advance as your support is very much appreciated.
