On February 5, 2015, Laurie Palmer, RN, MS, AOCN, chairperson of the Department of Nursing, was interviewed by WXXI’s Beth Adams on injuries common to the nursing field. The interview was prompted by a National Public Radio report on All Things Considered about nursing being one of the most dangerous jobs in America. Palmer shared her perspective on how “unplanned events” that occur while caring for patients can sometimes result in nurses becoming injured.
“Nurses have an ethical responsibility to make sure they can provide safe care and that they are keeping themselves safe as well,” said Palmer.
