Bartkovich to Retire; Celebrations Planned

After more than two decades of dedicated service to Monroe Community College, Dr. Jeffrey P. Bartkovich, interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Services, has announced his intention to retire as of August 31, 2015.

Jeff joined the MCC family as the Assistant Vice President for Curriculum and Program Development, a position he held until his appointment as Vice President for Educational Technology Services in 1999. At multiple points, Jeff has been asked to serve MCC in acting and interim leadership roles, so it was with great confidence in his abilities and regard within the College that I asked Jeff in 2014 to serve as our interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Services, a request he embraced and a position he has served in with enthusiasm and commitment. Upon his retirement, he will have spent 24 of his almost 40 years in higher education administration at MCC.

Jeff's dedication to the quality of the college’s academic programs, the needs of faculty, and the success of our students is unparalleled. He has earned the respect of his peers across the nation, his colleagues at home and in SUNY, and three MCC presidents. His contributions to building community within our college family are particularly noteworthy. He justly takes pride in his membership in the MCC Sports Hall of Fame, a tribute to his longstanding support of our student-athletes. His honesty, integrity, innovative spirit, and true love for MCC have been hallmarks of his leadership.  Jeff will leave a legacy of excellence that benefits us all.

The remainder of the academic year will offer opportunities to honor Jeff’s many accomplishments and contributions. In yesterday’s MCC Daily Tribune, details on an
August 31 celebration were shared. Please also know that the annual Alumni Luncheon and Golf Classic this year will honor Jeff. Slated for August 13 at Eagle Vale Golf Club, the luncheon gets underway at 12:30; golfers tee off at 2:00 pm. More information is forthcoming from the MCC Foundation.

Please join me in wishing Jeff and his wife, Liz, the very best in retirement.
