DCC Student Services Appointments


I am pleased to announce that Ms.Vilma Morrow has been appointed Assistant Director, Student Services, Damon City Campus.  Ms. Morrow has been working for Monroe Community College as a Counselor in the Damon City Campus Student Services Center since 1998.  She started at MCC as a Counselor in the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) in 1994.  Prior to MCC, Vilma was a Counselor in the Counseling Center at the State University of New York (SUNY), College at Brockport during the years 1993 to1994 and an Assistant Director for the Office of Career Services 1992 to 1993.  During the summers of 1993 and 1994, she was employed by SUNY Brockport as an EOP Counselor.  Ms. Morrow was the Residence Hall Director for the Office of Residential Life at SUNY Brockport from 1988 through 1992.   She started working as a Counselor Intern for EOP at SUNY Brockport in 1987 and ending as a Counselor Intern for the Student Support Services Program.   Ms. Morrow is a recipient of the 2005 Outstanding Counselor Supervisor from Nu Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota and the 2003 Leadership Service Award from Latinas Unidas.   With close to 20 years experience providing counseling, training, and mentoring for diverse students, Ms. Morrow will be a valuable asset to DCC Student Services and Monroe Community College. 

Ms. Lisa Bierre has been appointed Advisor, DCC Student Services and has been working at Monroe Community College as an Adjunct Instructor for the Transitional Studies Department and as a Writing Center Tutor for Academic Support Services since 2002.   Since 1993, she has also been working for Monroe BOCES #1 Student Support Services as a Consultant Special Education/Resource Room Teacher.  While at MCC, Ms. Bierre has served on the College Orientation Seminar Advisor Committee, presented Test Anxiety Workshops for Student Support Services and attended professional development workshops including Academic Advisement, Educational Technologies and the Teaching Creativity Center.  She has been involved in the community as a Parent Reading Partner Volunteer for the Rush-Henrietta School District; a member of the Norman Howard School Parent Committee; Greater Rochester Area Attention Deficit Disorder Association; Boy Scouts of America - Merit Badge Counselor and several church affiliations.


Mr. Marcus Watts has been appointed African American Male Retention Program Coordinator and comes to Monroe Community College from Monroe BOCES #1 where he worked as a Transition Experience Specialist since 1997.  From 1996 to 1997, Mr. Watts was a Program Coordinator for the Rochester Rehabilitation Center - Employment Connection supervising a grant funded program serving high school dropouts ages 16-21.  He was a Building Manager for the Seymour Student Union at the State University of New York College (SUNY) at Brockport from 1994 to 1996.  Mr. Watts began his career as a Counselor/Advocate for the Youth Work Skills Program for the Urban League of Rochester from 1991 to 1993.  He has demonstrated extensive experience working with the at-risk youth and learning disabled populations in agency and educational settings.  Mr. Watts is currently pursuing his Master of Public Administration at SUNY College at Brockport.
