TCC: Registration Closes Today! September's Adjunct Supper for Success - Responding to Racist Remarks

Join us Wednesday, September 11, from 5-6:30 in Monroe B for dinner and a workshop entitled Responding to Racist Remarks. Check in begins at 4:45.

We are so pleased to welcome Calvin Gantt, MCC's Chief Diversity Officer to lead this presentation.

Studies show that learning is negatively affected when students experience biases and bigotry in their educational journey. This is particularly damaging to first- generation, low-income students and women; especially those who seek to pursue careers in STEM. This workshop is designed to offer faculty/staff specific strategies and protocols for addressing issues of racism and bigotry that may occur either in person, on the phone or via an educational online platform. We will walk through several scenarios of bias and bigotry and how the faculty/staff member can help in creating a more inclusive environment for those with whom they come in contact.

The Teaching and Creativity Center is pleased to invite you to the 2019-20 Suppers for Success. This fall, we have chosen topics around the theme of inclusion. These workshops are held on the Brighton Campus three times per semester from 5 - 6:30 pm. Following dinner, MCC faculty and staff lead informative workshops. Presenters anticipate that some participants may need to arrive late or leave early. Events are free. Please register by Wednesday, 9/4.
