Holocaust Genocide Studies Project Members Surpass Goal, Purchase Videos for Hospital Patients

Student leaders of the Holocaust Genocide Studies Project (HGSP) at Monroe Community College surpassed their goal and raised over $800 to purchase videos for patients to view during their stay at the Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong. The videos were delivered to the hospital on April 25, 2003.

Acknowledging the need for entertainment videos specifically for teenaged patients of the hospital, members of the HGSP developed and promoted a "Just a Buck" campaign at the college. The effort was designed to help patients pass the time and find entertainment during hospital stays.

Blossoming from an honors seminar in 1991, the Holocaust Genocide Studies Project presents a unique, student-centered experience for the exploration of the nature of good and evil, together with such issues as indifference, survival, identity, faith, tolerance, forgiveness and compassion in a world too often estranged from conscience. The project uses an interdisciplinary approach, largely pioneered and implemented at Monroe Community College.
