Spring 2018 Starfish Attendance Early Intervention Project

This Spring we are continuing the Starfish Attendance Early Intervention Project to identify and support students with early attendance issues.

Based on our experiences in Fall 2017, we have modified our approach to identify at risk students earlier and to reduce the total number of starfish surveys offered.

We will be asking faculty to complete the following surveys this spring:

  • Week 1 Attendance Survey targeting students who have missed one or more classes. (Open from 1/26 - 2/1)
  • Week 4 Progress Survey with flags for attendance, Academic Progress, Missing Course Materials, and Kudos. (Open from 2/12 - 2/19)
  • Week 8 Progress Survey with flags for attendance, Academic Progress, and Kudos. (Open from 3/12 - 3/19)

Starfish surveys are sent through email and include links to surveys for each section that you teach. The following emails will be generated for the Week 1 Attendance Survey.

  • Starfish Survey message with links to survey(s) for each section you teach - Friday 1/26
  • Starfish Reminder #1 for those who have incomplete surveys - Monday 1/29
  • Starfish Reminder #2 for those who have incomplete surveys - Wednesday 1/31

We ask that all faculty members respond in a timely manner to these surveys so that we can identify and intervene early with any students at-risk for attendance issues.

Please check your email today, 1/26, after 11:30 am for the survey announcement with detailed instructions.

Instructions are also attached here with details on how to compete the attendance surveys.

For questions about this pilot, please contact Terry Keys (tkeys@monroec.edu).
