WROC's Why ROC Segment Highlights FWD Center, promotes August 13 Open House

MCC President Dr. DeAnna R. Burt-Nanna was interviewed by WROC’s Ally Peters for the Why ROC segment New workforce development center at MCC supports tech jobs. The segment aired this morning, July 27 and highlighted the Finger Lakes Workforce Development Center (FWD Center) that opened in May at MCC’s Downtown Campus. The segment also promoted the FWD Center Open House that will be held 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Saturday, August 13.

As defined in WROC’s coverage,” the FWD Center is a state-of-the-art facility that offers both short-term and accelerated training for technology-oriented careers, including in advanced manufacturing, information technology, skill trades and professional services.”

During the interview, President Burt-Nanna emphasized the benefits the FWD Center adds to our community. “People with no experience can get started in a short-term training program and learn skills or trade without going into debt and begin a rewarding career,” she said. “We want to get people into high-demand fields that pay living wages and get them into the workforce quickly. We want to make sure we lift up everybody across all zip codes in the Rochester area and the region and that black and brown communities are also represented by our programs.”

WROC's Why ROC series is presented in partnership with Greater Rochester Enterprise.
