Students to Present Check to Water for Sudan, View “Just Add Water”

Student leaders of the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project invite the college community to view the 30-minute documentary film, “Just Add Water,” on Thursday, June 18, at 2 p.m. in the Flynn Campus Center Brighton Room (3-217). Following film viewing, the students will present a check to Water for Sudan President Salva Dut in support of his efforts to build fresh water wells and transform lives in Southern Sudan. Dut is a member of the MCC Alumni Hall of Fame. This event is free and open to the public

HGHRP members raised money by hosting a successful Walk for Water in February in the PAC Center, selling water bottles and T-shirts and by visiting local Rotary clubs.

“The availability of water is essential in Sudan; it literally means life,” said Heather Naugle, president of the HGHRP. “Everyone involved is so excited to present the check to Salva so that he can go back next year and change the lives of the villagers there.”

“Just Add Water” was produced by Jeff Mead, who traveled with Dut, Angelique Stevens (English/Philosphy), and others to Sudan in February 2008. The film captures the arduous yet gratifying journey of delivering hope to Sudanese villages, one well at a time. To view a film clip, please visit https://www.imdb.com/video/wab/vi2263810841/
