Have you heard of Strong Foundations?

What is Strong Foundations?

Strong Foundations is a pre-matriculation, non-credit program in developmental math and English and ESL for students who place in the lowest level ESL and TRS classes.  The goal of the program is to help those students build significant skills in a single semester, with the goal of taking college level math, English, and ESL classes the next semester.

This semester, we are running 4 sections of Strong Foundations TRS (2 math and 2 English), 2 sections of Strong Foundations ESOL, and 1 section of Strong Foundations math for ESOL students.

Where can you find Strong Foundations?

Currently, Strong Foundations is located in Banner in the Workforce Development/Non-Credit term (902200).

Why is this important?

If a Strong Foundations student contacts a college office with questions, they are sometimes told they’re not taking any classes, or that they cannot be found in Banner Self-Service.  Students end these conversations confused and concerned, even though they’ve been attending classes since August 26th.

How can you help?

If you can’t find a student schedule in the usual way, check the 902200 term, ask if they’re in Strong Foundations, or reach out to Jessica Saltzberg, Student Advocate for Strong Foundations, who can help!
