Career Readiness Champion Certificate: Creating a campus culture of student support

During the 2020-2021 academic year, members of the SUNY Center for Professional Development, SUNY Career Development Office Community of Practice, and MCC began creating a Career Readiness Champion Certificate program as a professional development opportunity for faculty and staff throughout SUNY.  The Career Readiness Champion Certificate is designed to empower faculty and staff with the basic knowledge and resources needed to support students as they explore interests and careers.  Many students begin their higher education experience without clear direction or understanding of how an academic program will lead to a career.  Others have limited information of the types of careers that align to their interests, provide a living wage, or are in demand.  Students need help making informed choices related to careers and creating career and educational plans to reach their goals. This certificate aims to create a campus career culture where exploration and navigation are intentional and begin early in the educational journey.

The Career Readiness Champion Certificate program consists of three six week asynchronous online courses delivered in Blackboard.  Registration is now open!

Thanks to Gary Johnson, Director, Schools & Integrated Pathways and Natasja Rudge, former School Specialist, School of Social Sciences & Global Studies (now SUNY Geneseo), for their contributions to the development of this certificate program.
