Office and Computer Programs (OCP) Department Hosts Monroe High Schools Dual Credits Students

On May 14, thirteen students from the Monroe High School dual credit course of CIS 121 (Microsoft Office), accompanied by Jim Vangellow (teacher) and Pina Buonomo, visited the Brighton campus.  Escorted by Christine Forde (faculty liaison), they visited a CIS 121 Microsoft Office class that was in session.  In addition, the students toured the residence halls, the OCP Learning Center, and other areas of the college.   Their half day visit ended with lunch and a presentation about the department’s programs by faculty members Tom Gilbert and Jay Chakravarthy.

Comments of Mr. Vangellow: “It was so nice that college was in session and I noticed how diverse the MCC student body is.  I feel our students would be very comfortable at your college.” Based on the students’ feedback, a third of the students plan to attend MCC in the fall.  Many thanks to the Admissions Office in facilitating the tour.
