TCC Faculty Reading Group - RSVP by this Friday!

The Teaching & Creativity Center is pleased to announce its Fall 2012 Faculty Reading Group.  Over twenty full-time and adjunct faculty members participated in our first group last semester, when we read and discussed Kathleen Gabriel’s “Teaching Unprepared Students: Strategies for Promoting Success and Retention in Higher Education.”

This semester, the group will meet 5-6 times between early October and mid-December to read and discuss “Teaching to Transgress: Education as the Practice of Freedom” by bell hooks.  More information about the book is available here:
https://www.routledge.com/books/details/9780415908085/

All full-time and adjunct faculty members are invited to join us.  The group will be facilitated by Matt Williams, Instructor of Mathematics.  Each faculty member who commits to participate in the full series of discussions will receive a free copy of the book, courtesy of the TCC.  The group’s schedule of meeting times and locations will be determined based on the availabilities of faculty members who express interest in participating; meetings will most likely be set for the College Hour on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays.

If you’re interested in being part of this exciting TCC program, please email TCC Coordinator Jon Iuzzini ("
mailto:jiuzzini@monroecc.edu") by Noon on Friday, September 21.
