New Student Parking Option Available Beginning Tuesday, June 1

Could you please share the following information with summer-session students? An announcement has been submitted to the Student Tribune, but some students may not have read it. Thank you!

Beginning June 1, MCC students who share a ride to the Brighton Campus will be able to reduce their parking expenses and create a cleaner environment through the college’s new GreenSaver Rideshare option.

GreenSaver Rideshare is aimed at reducing the number of single-occupancy vehicles on campus in support of the college’s green initiatives. Parking permits cost $50 each fall and spring semester for GreenSaver members and $75 each semester for non-members; the summer rate, which covers all sessions, is $50 for all students. To become a GreenSaver member, a team consisting of two or more individuals must agree to arrive on campus together in one vehicle. Each team member must register his or her vehicle through MCC Parking Services, but only one permit will be issued for each team. One student, who will be designated team captain, will be responsible for the return of the parking gate card and permit.

GreenSaver teams must prominently display the permit in their vehicles at all times and park in specially designated lots and spaces. Parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in Lot A during the summer and expanded to lots C and J in the fall and spring semesters.

Permit holders may use a Rideshare parking space only when operating as a valid team. Individuals found violating conditions of the agreement must forfeit their permits.

Any vehicle parked in violation of the GreenSaver rules will be subject to a citation and/or towing. No notice will be given prior to towing. Violators will be required to pay the towing and all related charges, and Rideshare privileges may be revoked at the discretion of the college. At that time, the GreenSaver permit must be returned immediately to Parking Services.

Individuals will be charged $50 to replace lost or stolen cards or permits.

GreenSaver permits expire at the end of each semester. Students interested in renewing their GreenSaver membership must reapply. The https://www.monroecc.edu/depts/pstd/Parking.htm permit application is available online or in the Parking Services office (7-341). Applicants must return the form to the office in person and bring along their student ID card and driver’s license. Office hours are 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Friday. For more information about this parking option, call (585) 292-2700.
