A looming teacher shortage in Illinois K-12 school districts led to a partnership between Greenville College, a four-year institution, and three community colleges – Kaskaskia College, Lewis and Clark Community College, and Southwestern Illinois College – to develop a 2+2 teacher education program targeted at paraprofessionals already working in schools and adult learners seeking a second career in education.
