Reminder: MCC Presents Fall Musical, “The Spitfire Grill”

"The Spitfire Grill," a musical by James Valcq and Fred Alley, comes to the MCC stage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21and Saturday, Nov. 22 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov 23.

This award-winning musical tells the story of Percy Talbott, a young parolee who decides to start a new life in the rural Wisconsin town of Gilead, a place she has seen only in a picture she carries. There she finds a home and acceptance with Hannah, long-time owner and operator of a ramshackle restaurant, the Spitfire Grill. As Percy tries to build a life, she is joyously revived by the quiet town, which in turn is rejuvenated as well. With a rousing American folk and bluegrass score and a poignant portrayal of small town existence, “The Spitfire Grill” has become one of the most popular shows in regional theater across the United States, according to Play Director and MCC Faculty Member Jim Simmonds.

The musical will be performed in the MCC Theatre, Bldg. 4, 1000 East Henrietta Rd. Tickets, $8 with MCC ID and $10 for the general public, are available at www.monroecctickets.com, the R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center Service Desk or at the Damon City Campus Bookstore. For further information, call 585.292.2534.
