Faculty Member Discusses Optics Education in WDKX Podcast

Alexis Vogt, associate professor and endowed chair of MCC's optical systems technology program, recently participated on a WDKX podcast episode focusing on optics/photonics education and training, career opportunities, and scholarships available for students.

Dr. Vogt was joined by Tom Battley, executive director of New York Photonics; Paul Conrow, who teaches optics at East High School; and Jean Carlos Alomar and Tay Fennell, East High graduates who now work in optics companies.

The podcast provides insight into the optics/photonics industry for automotive, biomedical, aerospace, military, and consumer products. The purpose of the conversation was to encourage more people in the city of Rochester to pursue optics in an effort to increase diversity of workers within the field.
