AAWCC: Creativity and the Creative Process as Stress Management for Women TOMORROW

Come to the Creativity and the Creative Process as Stress Management for Women, tomorrow, February 13, 2:30-4 pm in Monroe A&B. Sponsored by the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC), this program features Karen Cardillo, RN, MS, HSMI, Professor, Health and Physical Education, speaking on this important outlet for handling stress.

“Over the past 30 years I’ve expanded my interests to other fiber arts including spinning, weaving, knitting, rug hooking, punch needle embroidery and basket weaving,” says Ervina Malin. “My arts and crafts are some of the most rewarding pieces of my life, as I have a very strong creative drive.  They offer me the opportunity to express what I think and dream about.  My time spent on these arts and crafts is almost always spent alone, in a quiet place.  I use this time to get back to who I really am, to sort out what is important to me and leave the rest behind.”

Pam Korte starting scrap booking three years ago, “as an outlet for my needlework and a way to create memories of two of my greyhounds that died within six months of each other. My sister gave me a few basic tools and introduced me to the craft.” She adds, “It is relaxful for me and it is a creative outlet that others enjoy sharing with me.”
