Phi Theta Kappa receives Regional and International Awards

Please join me in congratulating MCC’s Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Theta Iota chapter officers and members who were recognized as New York’s Most Distinguished chapter and Phi Theta Kappa’s  International Distinguished chapter.  The chapter also received a Hallmark award for their Honors In Action Project, Most Distinguished Officer Team, and remained in the top 100 chapters for the second year.  The chapter officers received their awards at the 31st Annual New York Regional Convention and the 99th Annual Phi Theta Kappa International Convention.  The chapter competes with 1,300 chapters.

The Distinguished chapter is awarded based on the combined score of the Honors In Action(HIA)  and College Project. Lead by Professor Scott Rudd, the HIA research project focused on food insecurity both worldwide and in the Rochester community.  The College Project focused on providing information to the student body about the new services offered to help students remain in school, such as Single Stop, Dreamworks and Save for Success.
