Updated New York Travel Advisory Guidelines

The New York State Department of Health updated its travel advisory guidelines for travelers arriving in New York state. Changes will be reflected in MCC’s COVID-19 Self-Assessment.

  • Asymptomatic domestic travelers arriving in New York from other U.S. states and territories are no longer required to test or quarantine. Domestic travelers do not need to quarantine if they are fully vaccinated or have recovered from laboratory confirmed COVID-19 within the previous 3 months.
  • All individuals coming into New York from another U.S. state or territory, or any other country, whether or not such person is a New York resident, are required to complete the NYS Traveler Form upon entering New York unless coming from a contiguous state for routine work purposes or for less than 24 hours. Contiguous states to New York are Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont.
  • Symptomatic travelers must immediately self-isolate and contact the local health department or their healthcare providers to determine if they should seek COVID-19 testing.
  • All travelers must:
    • Monitor symptoms daily from day of arrival in New York through day 14;
    • Continue strict adherence to all recommended non-pharmaceutical interventions, including hand hygiene and the use of face coverings, through Day 14 (even if fully vaccinated); and
    • Must immediately self-isolate if any symptoms develop and contact the local public health authority or their health care provider to report this change in clinical status and determine if they should seek testing. Students, faculty and staff should also notify MCC Health Services or Human Resources departments.
  • International travelers also no longer need to test or quarantine. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and New York State recommend delaying international travel until the traveler is fully vaccinated.
