Please join me in congratulating Betty Stewart who was appointed Director of the Campus Center on August 1, 2005.  As an employee of MCC since 1989, she is regarded within the college and throughout New York State colleges and institutions as a top professional in the co-curricular field.  Holding the rank of Associate Professor, Betty has been integrally involved in the design and development of the Leadership Institute, and she teaches two credit-bearing leadership classes.  She also developed and administers the College's comprehensive New Student Orientation program which served 2,300 students and 1,100 visitors in the summer of 2004.

Betty was a 2005 recipient of the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service, a three-time recipient of the League for Innovation in the Community College Innovation of the Year Award (1992, 1994, 2001), and a selected participant for the Women's Leaders Program of the National Institute for Leadership Development.  Being very active on local, regional and national levels with several professional organizations, Betty has presented at workshops and conferences on numerous occasions in the past sixteen years.

Among her accomplishments at MCC are the creation of the Peer Assistance Resource Center (PARC), the development and implementation of the co-curricular transcript, the emerging leaders program, the design and construction of the 9/11 Memorial, coordination of MCC's annual voter registration program, advisor for Student Government, Faculty Senate Representative, and numerous college wide committees.
