MCC Salutes Corning Incorporated Foundation

For its leadership and philanthropy in support of STEM and career technical education, Corning Incorporated Foundation will be honored at the Monroe Community College Foundation’s 23rd annual Salute to Excellence dinner on Thursday, November 15, at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

Corning Incorporated Foundation partners with MCC to attract more students to STEM and career technical fields, especially optics technology, in an effort to satisfy employer demand for skilled technicians. Students participating in optics programs at local high schools and at MCC will have opportunities to network with local employers, including MCC alumni, at the event. Optics education and career displays will also be presented.

Corning Incorporated Foundation President Karen C. Martin will accept the Salute to Excellence award. Donald McCabe Jr., senior vice president of manufacturing & performance excellence for Corning Incorporated, is the honorary event chair.

John L. DiMarco II (The DiMarco Group, LLC) is the dinner chair. Golden benefactors include Corning Incorporated, Democrat and Chronicle Media Group, Dixon Schwabl and Excellus BlueCross BlueShield.

An honored Rochester tradition since 1989, the Salute to Excellence award reflects the recipient’s commitment to public higher education and the community. Past recipients of the Salute to Excellence award include Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Pamela A. and Arunas A. Chesonis, the Louis S. and Molly B. Wolk Foundation, Anne Mulcahy, John L. DiMarco Sr., Bausch & Lomb and M&T Bank.

Funds raised at the Salute to Excellence support student scholarships, faculty grants and educational innovation at MCC. MCC faculty and staff and their guests may take advantage of a special ticket rate of $50 per person in honor of the college’s golden anniversary. (General ticket rate is $120 per person.) Please make your reservations by November 5 by contacting the Foundation at x1500 or
mccf@monroecc.edu. The event reception will begin at 5:30 p.m.; the dinner and award ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m.
