9:30 AM - Keynote Speaker: Daniel Lerner

Can success and happiness coexist? According to positive psychologist Daniel Lerner, we can all accomplish our career goals and live well. Drawing from his “Science of Happiness” – the most popular elective course at NYU— and his cutting-edge research into high-performance professionals, Lerner’s talks show us how to create a life of well-being and excellence, at work and at home.

10:45 AM - Chronic Confusion: The Status of Cannabis in the Workplace - Weeding Through New York’s Cannabis Law in the Workplace

This seminar will address 2021 changes to New York law on the possession and use of cannabis (marijuana), updated government guidance, and their practical impact on workplace and labor force management—including how much employers can regulate cannabis use in their workforces; how employers can respond to employee cannabis use; and how to approach employee discipline in a world of legalized cannabis. Special attention will be given to the law’s impact on drug-testing policies; conducting lawful “reasonable suspicion” investigations of drug use; and best practices for documenting and carrying out discipline for suspected cannabis use.
