Dreamkeepers Program Helps Students Stay in School

MCC students facing unforeseen financial emergencies can now apply to Scholarship America’s Dreamkeepers® network for assistance. Joining the Dreamkeepers network is another way MCC is working to help students overcome obstacles standing between them and their educational goals of completing a college degree or certificate.

Students can apply for both financial assistance and access to resources and services at
https://monroecc.dreamkeepers.org/. MCC is the first college in upstate New York to join Dreamkeepers.

Grants of up to $500 will be awarded to help students with emergencies such as unexpected expenses related to child care, food, housing, medical and dental expenses, program supplies, transportation, etc. The grants do not need to be paid back.

MCC’s participation in Dreamkeepers was made possible by a lead gift from MCC alumni Timothy ’80 and Robin ’80 Wentworth to the Monroe Community College Foundation. MCC Foundation supporters are working to establish an endowment of $1.5 million to support Dreamkeepers at MCC in perpetuity.

Students interested in more information about MCC’s Dreamkeepers program, should visit the Counseling Center and Veteran Services Office on the Brighton Campus or the Student Services Office at the Damon City Campus.
