College Update on COVID-19 Testing Efforts & Cases

To date, thanks to the cooperation of faculty, staff and students, MCC has completed 5,220 COVID-19 pooled tests, resulting in a 0.42% positivity rate. MCC’s Applied Technologies Center, Brighton Campus and Public Safety Training Facility remain in yellow precautionary zones; the Downtown Campus is in an orange warning zone.

Since our last report on Jan. 4, the Monroe County Department of Public Health has notified the College of 0 positive cases of COVID-19 among students and employees. According to MCC Health Services:

  • 0 students are isolating on campus
  • 41 students are isolating off campus
  • 13 students are in mandatory quarantine off campus

9:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13 MCC Health Services and Public Safety will host a pooled testing session in the Warshof Conference Center, Flynn Campus Center (Monroe A/B). This session is for faculty, staff and students who will be coming to campus in January. No appointment necessary. Please visit the MCC Updates & Resources for the latest updates.

Be sure to complete your daily COVID-19 self-assessment starting today. Completing the assessment takes less than a minute and will help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Required daily screenings will help all employees and students comply should an unanticipated need arise to come to the Applied Technologies Center, Brighton Campus and/or Downtown Campus (recent article).

MCC adheres to federal, state and county guidelines and requires mask wearing, social distancing, hand washing, respiratory etiquette and daily health self-assessments on campus.
