Project Zero 2020 gets under weigh

It is easier to win when you are in a community. I think the reason is obvious: Because it's easy for one person to quit.

It's much harder for two to quit. It's even harder for three people to quit. It gets even harder for four people to quit. Have you spotted the trend?

While you are taking part in Project Zero, there will be many moments where you feel like giving up. Although, let's be honest, this is a challenge that has almost no consequences - just benefits.

It's easy to quit something like this, but you'll be tempted to quit things that matter a whole lot more to you as well. Bigger things like dropping out of college, quitting a long-term relationship or leaving your job without something else lined up.

In moments like that, a friend is critical. Knowing who your community is often better than knowing why you're doing something in the first place.

The world often gives us the impression that we have to go it alone. A lot of us have this "me against the world" mentality when it comes to our goals.

The opposite is actually the truth.

There are times when you need someone to drag you across the finish line. I'm not talking about someone who cheers you on from the sideline. I mean someone who is going to chase you across the finish line if that's what it takes.

That said, don't over complicate things.

What I recommend you to do is to think of one person who will ask you one question once a week. Then, both of you join Project Zero. The goal is to give that specific person permission to ask you (Via text is fine) "How are you doing on Project Zero?" It doesn't have to be complicated. It doesn't have to be some heartfelt, tear-inducing conversation over a cup of steaming coffee.

Just find one person who will ask you that one question. Both of you sign up for Project Zero. That's it. Feel free to include your friends and family as possible accountability partners.

To join go to: https://www.monroecc.edu/depts/foundation/make-a-contribution/project-zero/

This year the cost of registration is a $10 donation to the MCC Foundation. That's right, all registration "fees" are going the MCC Foundation. If you donate $25 or more your name will be entered in a drawing for a prize. If you donate $50 your entered twice and again for every additional $25 increment.

I am looking forward to giving and getting words of encouragement and motivation and I hope to see your name on the list of participants.
