News from the MCC Board of Trustees' Meeting


The MCC Board of Trustees took the following actions at yesterday’s board meeting:

*Approved the interim financial reports as of August 31, September 30 and October 31, 2008.

*Approved the purchase of items over $10,000 for the months of August, September and October 2008.

* Approved the annual financial report to SUNY for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2008.

* Amended the 2007-08 Operating Budget total operating expenses in accordance with the Annual Financial Report for year ended August 31, 2008.

* Accepted the annual audit report of Monroe Community College for fiscal year ended August 31, 2008, as submitted by Bonadio & Co. LLP. Bonadio and Co. representatives presented the audit report at the Board’s Finance and Facilities Committee meeting.

* Transferred $255,634 among various internal accounts.

* Appointed Thaddeus Ciambor as director of library services.

* Appointed Richard Hamell as associate professor emeritus (Chemistry and Geosciences).

* Approved the adoption of the Deferred Compensation Plan for New York State employees and other public jurisdictions for the voluntary participation of all eligible employees.

* Approved a new paramedic certificate program, subject to the approval of the State University of New York.


Board Chair Rich Guon announced the membership of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee. Please see a separate announcement in this issue of the MCC Daily Tribune for that list.

The Board was introduced to three MCC students from China, enrolled via the SUNY 150 program that brought 150 students to the State University of New York from the Sichuan Province of western China, site of a massive earthquake in May 2008.

Board members also heard a report from Lee Struble, director, Public Safety, and John Mallaber, coordinator, Public Safety, regarding the Nov. 11 student altercation on the Brighton Campus.
