Business Leaders Lend Expertise to MCC Foundation Board


The Monroe Community College Foundation recently named six community leaders to its Board of Directors. Allen G. Casey, Virginia “Ginny” Clark, John L. DiMarco II, Daisy M. Guthin, Christopher R. Miller and Richard Ottalagana began serving their three-year terms as directors last month.

Casey, of Rochester, is president of M/E Engineering, a firm he co-founded in 1991. The firm ranks among the fastest-growing mechanical and electrical engineering firms in the country. M/E Engineering provided mechanical and electrical engineering support for MCC’s capital projects. In addition to membership in professional engineering associations, Casey serves on the boards of the Rochester Business Alliance and Hochstein Music School. He is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology.

Clark, of Fairport, is vice president of external affairs for Constellation Brands, one of the largest suppliers of beer, wine and distilled spirits in the United States and the United Kingdom. Clark serves on the advisory board for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and on the development committee for Mercy Flight Central. She is a graduate of Herkimer College.

DiMarco, of Fairport, is president and chief operating officer of The DiMarco Group LLC, a family-owned business that serves construction and real estate clients locally and nationwide. DiMarco Constructors served as general contractor for MCC’s residence halls. DiMarco serves on the board of the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong. He is a graduate of Union College.

Guthin, of Rochester, is president of Guthin Myers Public Relations and chief operating officer for The Worldcom Public Relations Group. She is experienced in regional, national and international trends in business and public relations. Guthin serves as a board member for the Kirkhaven Foundation, the Episcopal SeniorLife Communities, the Rochester Children’s Theater and the YWCA. She graduated from Mississippi University for Women.

Miller, of Pittsford, is vice president and northeast regional sales manager at Merrill Lynch. He also serves as an adjunct teacher with the Gifted and Talented Program at Victor Central Schools and as a board member of the Notre Dame Club of Rochester. Miller graduated from the University at Buffalo SUNY and earned an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.

Ottalagana, of Victor, is chief executive officer of Torvec, Inc., an automotive and related technology firm. He also is a founding partner of CXO on the GO, a full service consulting company specializing in business operations. Ottalagana is chairman of the board of the Veterans Outreach Center, and is a member of the Compeer and Summit Federal Credit Union boards. He is a Vietnam veteran and a graduate of Rider University.

MCC Foundation members comprise corporate and civic leaders as well as MCC alumni. Through its ongoing efforts, the foundation provides funding for scholarship assistance, faculty enrichment programs, educational equipment and seed money for innovative programs.
