Calling All Faculty to Complete URSICA Survey

The Association of American Colleges and Universities (AACU) has identified Undergraduate Research as a High-Impact Practice (HIP). This means that, as with other HIPs, URSICA principles have been “widely tested” and shown to be “beneficial for college students from many backgrounds, especially historically underserved students.” Yet, the AACU makes clear that historically underserved students also “often do not have equitable access to high-impact learning.” It is part of URSICA's mission to ensure that all students at MCC have increased access to HIPs, and especially to Undergraduate Research.

As we move towards this mission, we’d first like to understand better the landscape of URSICA practices already in place at MCC. To that end, we’re asking all faculty to complete the brief, attached survey and return it before February 15 to Maria Brandt at mbrandt@monroecc.edu.

Ultimately, URSICA practices promote active, project-based research, inquiry-based learning, and/or creative activity in the classroom, laboratory, library, studio, and/or field. The purpose of URSICA courses is to promote a culture in which students are encouraged to explore, enter, and advance current dialogues in academic disciplines and their related professional fields.

Thank you for your support, and we'll look forward to hearing from you!
