Reminder: COVID-19 Leave Bank - Time to Donate Extended to May 8, 2020

In recognition of the uncertainty and strain that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the College community, the CSEA, the Faculty Association and the College have joined together to create a COVID-19 Leave Bank to help employees who need to take time off to deal with their own personal health concerns due to the virus, a family member's health concerns due to the virus, or other concerns, such as childcare needs, related to the virus. While the state and federal government have provided some relief for employees related to the need to take time off to deal with issues related to COVID-19, there are some limitations on those protections. The COVID-19 Leave Bank is an emergency leave bank that is designed to supplement and enhance the benefits available under state and federal law.

Participation in the bank is not automatic. Employees must elect to participate in the bank and to make a donation of accrued, unused sick leave or vacation in order to obtain a benefit from the bank. Materials related to the COVID-19 Leave Bank may be found on Banner by clicking on Employee Essentials. The Human Resources channel contains the procedures for donating to the bank, the leave request application, a FAQ document, and a chart of all leaves available to employees that can assist during this difficult time. Donation forms must be submitted to Human Resources by April 30, 2020 to participate in the bank.

PLEASE NOTE: THE TIME TO DONATE TO THE BANK HAS BEEN EXTENDED THROUGH MAY 8, 2020. ALL DONATION FORMS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO CHERYL GAVIGAN IN HUMAN RESOURCES (cgavigan@monroecc.edu). Thank you to those who have donated.

Any questions regarding the bank or the use of leave at this time may be directed to any member of the Human Resources staff. Stay well and stay safe.
