Survey of Automotive Transportation and Service

This course will examine the effects of the automobile on global society and the environment from various perspectives, exploring the resulting factors driving changes in automotive and emissions technologies. Students will consider political, economic and ethical issues associated with the automotive industry that include safety devices, emissions standards, factory recalls, state and federal legislation and repair practices. This course will also look at how these global, environmental and ethical factors shape automotive service career responsibilities and opportunities. Students may wish to take MMP 101 Survey of Automotive Service Lab concurrently. This accompanying lab component is highly recommended but not required.3 Class hours.
