All members participate in a two-week training program at the beginning of their term of service. The program is conducted Monday through Friday from approximately 8:30 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. for the first two weeks of enrollment. This time counts toward the minimum 1,700 hours that each member must complete in order to earn an education award.
Sessions emphasize the details of program operation and procedures; team building activities; program-related content on city resources and youth development; skill development in communication; and areas such as leadership development and diversity.
Consistent attendance and active participation are required. The program reserves the right to dismiss any member who fails to meet this requirement.
