Alumni Hall of Fame - Selma Mujezinovic, DNP, FNP-BC

System Director, Advanced Practice Providers, Rochester Regional Health
Nominated by Jodi Oriel ‘93

Health care leader who inspires clients to achieve their maximum health potential.

In her role as a family nurse practitioner and advanced practice provider chair for Rochester Regional Health System, Selma Mujezinovic oversees 1,000 advanced practitioners providing health care in 13 counties. She is a staunch advocate for increased access to health care for patients.

Selma came to the United States from Bosnia in 1995. Friends helped her discover MCC, where she enrolled in the nursing program. She fondly remembers how her nursing professor, Sue Ames, gave her the extra time and support she needed to succeed. Selma became a member of MCC’s Alpha Theta Iota Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and later the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nurses. She considers her time at MCC among “the most exciting two years of my life.” She received job offers before she completed her associate in applied science degree in nursing in 2000.

After MCC, Selma earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from The College at Brockport, a master of science degree with a major in family nurse practitioner, and a doctorate of nursing practice degree from St. John Fisher College. She helps educate future health care professionals as an adjunct faculty member at St. John Fisher College.
