Interpreting Services

All students requesting accommodations are required to follow the steps outlined by the college if seeking services. Please refer to the "How to Request Accommodations" page for specific details and next steps to request accommodations.

Note: Documentation is reviewed in the order received, therefore, all requests for accommodations should be made at least 30 days in advance of the need. We cannot guarantee coverage in the case of a last minute, short notice request.

The Office of Disability Services encourages all students to submit their interpreter request with as much advanced notice as possible. All requests are subject to availability and must be thoroughly completed so that adequate planning is possible.

Students who are requesting an interpreter for an appointment or event must complete an Interpreter Request Form, or email the following information to the Disability Services office (ssdinterpreting@monroecc.edu). All requests should be placed with as much advanced notice as possible as all requests are subject to availability:

Interpreter / Captioning Request Form (PDF)

  • Student Name
  • Type of Appointment/Event
  • Date
  • Start Time
  • End Time
  • Preferred Interpreter
  • Preferred Language
  • Location/Zoom Details

The Disability Services office then will place the request with the interpreting agency.

Cancelation/Notification

In the event there is a change to an ongoing or one time request, students are encouraged to email Disability Services (ssdinterpreting@monroecc.edu) with as much advanced notice as possible, preferably at least 48 hours in advance.

Students should contact the office in situations such as:

  • Plan to miss class
  • A class session is canceled
  • An event/meeting is canceled
  • Registration change (add, drop, or withdraw from a course)
  • Exam day (as this may impact the number of assigned interpreters)
  • Classroom location changes
  • Event/appointment location or time changes
