Text-to-Speech Programs
Read&Write
Read&Write is text-to-speech software program to support with reading passages, documents, and online content. The program can also be used for writing support with the built-in spell check feature and dictation tool. Users can also turn spoken words into text.
You can download the software as an extension on Google Chrome, to your Windows PC or Mac computer.
To download the program for free, please refer to the directions below:
- Login to your MyMCC account
- Select the "Students Tab"
- Select the "Campus Life" tab.
- Scroll down to the "Students with Disabilities" section and select on the "Downloading Read&Write Directions".

Kurzweil 3000
The program allows users to customize their learning experience. Kurzweil 3000 provides reading, writing and study support. You can download Kurzweil 3000 on your personal computer by following the steps below:
- Login to your MyMCC account.
- Select the "Students"tab.
- Select the "Campus Life" tab.
- Scroll down to the bottom right hand corner of the page and click on "Downloading Kurzweil 3000".
- Follow the downloading instructions.
For MAC users, please refer to the Kurzweil 3000 website for the step-by-step downloading information and select the "Web License Edition Installation Guide". If you need assistance accessing the installation guide, please contatct Kurzweil Education Customer Support. You may also refer to the Kurzweil 3000 website to learn more about Kuzweil 3000 features for a MAC.

Natural Reader
Natural Reader is a text-to-speech program that reads text aloud. Users can access Natural Reader via the web or download a free version on their own personal device. For more information, visit the Natural Reader website.
You can also download the free Natural Reader Google Chrome Extension to read online aloud to you. To download the extension, go to the Google Chrome Store using the Google Chrome browser and search "Natural Reader" in the search toolbar. You will be able to add the extension to your toolbar.
Scanning Pens: Reader Pens
The Reader Pen is a portable, pocket-sized device that reads text aloud. The pen can scan text and read the text aloud to the user with or without headphones. Software is not required for the pen; rather, users can connect the portable pen to their computer with a USB cable. For more information about the Reader Pen, please contact our office.
