Self-Help for Common Illnesses
If you are ill, please call Health Services promptly to make an appointment for evaluation.
- Our registered nurses are able to assess common illnesses, and instruct you about available non-prescription medication and self care. We can often give you some over-the-counter medicines to get you started on the road to recovery.
- We will refer you to our Physician Assistant, a local urgent care center, or your primary care physician as needed.
- Don't forget that 20 seconds of handwashing is one of the best steps to take to stop the spread of illness.

FLU VACCINE is available to students at no charge each Fall semester per the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines. The amount of flu vaccine available to Health Services is variable. Dates for clinics will be announced in the Tribune and on our Facebook page.
Why should you get a flu vaccine?
- While most healthy people recover from the flu without complications, you'll likely be out of school and work for a minimum of a week.
- Some people (the very old or young, and people with certain health conditions) are at high risk for serious complications from the flu, even death.
- By decreasing your risk of becoming ill and spreading the flu, you are helping to protect these vulnerable people as well.
- Finally, the flu vaccine CANNOT give you the flu. It's safe and effective.
