PSY 215 - Cognitive Psychology

3 Credits

How do we think, make decisions, solve problems, perceive our world, and remember our past? What is intelligence, creativity, or awareness? Cognitive psychology explores these complex and important human processes. In this course, students will learn the theories, methods, and concepts of cognitive psychology and apply them to many areas of life.

Prerequisite: PSY 101 with a grade of C or better

Course Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate comprehension of the basic concepts of perception.
2. Demonstrate comprehension of the basic concepts of memory.
3. Demonstrate comprehension of the basic concepts of problem solving.
4. Demonstrate comprehension of the basic concepts of language.
5. Apply the concepts of cognitive psychology to relevant areas of daily life or to controversial issues.
6. Explain how evidence from scientific research is used to address issues in the field of cognitive psychology.
7. Write a paper analyzing some aspect of cognitive psychology, using correct APA style, including references.
